How do I enable Cookies and set Security Settings so I can login to the site?
Cookies are pieces of information that are stored by your hard drive to remember aspects of your visits to a particular Web site. The
TechConnect site does not actually store cookies on your hard drive, but uses Session Variables to retain your login information while
you move from page to page within TechConnect. For Session Variables to work properly, cookies must be enabled and/or your security settings
set at an acceptable level.
To enable cookies:
Internet Explorer 6 or higher:
- In Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu.
- Click Internet Options.
- In the Internet Options dialog box, select the Privacy tab.
- Using the sliding control, set it to "Medium High".
- Then select the Security tab.
- Using the sliding control, set it to "Medium".
- After verifying the correct privacy and security levels, click "OK" to close and exit the Internet Options menu.
Internet Explorer 5 or higher:
- In Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu.
- Click Internet Options.
- In the Internet Options dialog box, select the Security tab.
- In the white box at the top, there is a blue-green Earth icon . This should be highlighted. If
not, click on the icon to highlight it.
- The section at the bottom should be titled "Security level for this zone." Using the sliding control, set it to "Medium
High" (or "Medium", if not available).
- After verifying the correct security level, click "OK" to close and exit the Internet Options menu.
